SWUGN Technical Summit - Session Descriptions

Technical sessions at SWUGN Summit events will have something for everyone, from beginners to the most advanced users.  Summit session presenters are experts in their fields, and will be able to demonstrate or answer questions about advanced functionality.

SWUGN Summit technical sessions are geared toward users of all levels.  Most sessions will be presented in a "Tips and Tricks" format (where applicable).  Some sessions may not be available at all SWUGN Summit events, and comparable sessions may be substituted instead.  Check the schedule for your local event for up-to-date listings.

Sheet Metal A comprehensive look at the sheet metal tools available in SolidWorks.  Learn about the various methods of creating simple sheet metal parts and very complex sheet metal parts.
RealView Graphics Is it PhotoWorks, or RealView?  With the release of SolidWorks 2008 its hard to tell.  This session will cover textures, appearances, and scenes that will make your SolidWorks models really stand out.
Weldments

SolidWorks weldment features help automate the process of completing structural assemblies.  Learn how to create weldments and associated drawings with cut lists, delve into some of the new 3D sketching tools, and see how easy it is to create your own structural libraries.

CAD Management A subset of the highly popular CAD Manager's Bootcamp, this session will feature information on setting up your SolidWorks environment, best data management practices, and automation.
Drawings Detail drawings are here to stay.  This session covers the entire process from annotation views to creating and customizing templates.  You'll also see a few tips and tricks and perhaps a thing or two you never knew about drawings in SolidWorks.
Assembly Modeling Creating assemblies in SolidWorks is easy and fun.  This session will provide some tips and tricks to make it even easier and more fun.  Learn from local SolidWorks users what makes their assemblies tick, and you might even get a chance to see some really cool assemblies that other companies use to manage their product lines and manufacturing.
COSMOS Take a look at why analysis isn't just for FEA guys anymore.  Mainstream analysis using COSMOS products will make your designs better, sooner.
PDMWorks If you are thinking about implementing a PDM system (and you should be), this is a must see presentation.  PDMWorks helps provide secure access to engineering data, automates the revision process, and facilitates design re-use.  This session will also cover lifecycle management, and getting ready to implement PDMWorks in your organization.
Regional Sessions These sessions will be selected by local user group leaders and will focus on topics that are most important to their members.  Surfacing, mold design, routing, and others.
